Our youngest children are nurtured by a regular nursery care provider assisted by volunteers each Sunday morning. The message: You belong here; This is a safe, loving place where you can grow.
As children enter our classrooms at age 3 they are engaged in play that explores stories and ideas from many spiritual traditions. We share the ritual of chalice lighting, share offering and joys and sorrows in our lives. Children know that our church is a warm extended family and that our shared space is a home for all of us.
In mixed age groups for kindergarten through 5th grade children we teach concepts of conscience, of "feeling right" with oneself, stories and parables of wise teachers, our roots in Christianity and Judaism, and how our Unitarian Universalist faith differs. Children learn that Unitarian Universalism asks each of us to take personal responsibility to accept the grace and blessings we are offered, to grow and deepen our spirits throughout life, to honor the interdependent web of existence of which we are a part, and to respect everyone and everything in it.
