Volunteering is a rewarding way to meet people and to assist in growing our community. For the busiest of us, even a few hours of your time per year will be invaluable. These opportunities are listed first. Other opportunities are listed for those with more time flexibility.
Volunteer Activity Form
Activities where just 3-4 hours per year provide invaluable service:
- Help clean the church grounds
- Provide a ride, a meal, write a card to someone in need (Caring Committee)
- Be an usher, greeter, audio, coffee host substitute
- Spend time at the Interfaith Hospitality Network
- One-time special events such as a book sale, coffee house, rummage sale, or potluck
- Staff the library cart during coffee hour
- Participate in the Interfaith Hospitality Network or the Community Food Response
- Provide or assist with childcare during church services and meetings
- Operate the audio equipment during a service
Activities where 12 hours a year provide invaluable service:
- Host a Fellowship special event or celebration
- Be an usher, greeter, coffee host, once a month
- Assist with design and publication of church communications
- Maintain our church scrapbook
- Social Concerns Committee activities
- Keep the congregation informed of national/district UU conferences and programs
- Work on a special Lifespan Faith Development project
- Substitute in a classroom during Sunday morning
Critical activities requiring a greater time commitment
- Sing in the Walden Hill Vocal Ensemble or Family Choir
- Support and plan Sunday Services (Religious Services Committee)
- Plan and assist with the physical needs of the church (Property Committee)
- Basic building maintenance (Interior/Systems Subcommittee)
- Care for our building exterior, gardens, and grounds (Exterior/Grounds Subcommittee)
- Care for the beautification of the church building (Design Subcommittee)
- Ensure the security and readiness of the building for various activities as a sexton
- Facilitate or assist with classes for children, youth, or adults or and help to plan curriculum for one or more age groups nursery to adult (Lifespan Faith Development)
- Participate in the planning of youth activities
- Support the communication and technology needs of the church (Communication and Technology Committee)
- Care for the financial well-being of the church (Finance Committee )
- Organizing the annual canvass and stewardship plan for the church (Stewardship Subcommittee)
- Overseeing the investment and distribution of Endowment funds (Endowment Subcommittee)
- Participate in Clara Barton Guild for fellowship, education and fundraising activities
