Becoming A Member

Here is a guide to the process, the responsibilities, and the privileges of membership.  If you have questions or would like more information please contact the church's Pastoral Care/Membership Coordinator.  The full "Becoming a Member Brochure" is available here.

Pathway to Membership

Becoming part of a church community can feel uncertain and awkward. The Pathway to Membership class is designed to bring visitors and guests into our congregation and reduce the feeling of being new as they become members of the congregation. It is designed to enable folks to become actively and meaningfully involved in the life of the church and congregation.

The integration of new and interested friends includes a discussion focusing on the liberal church, an opportunity to share personal religious odysseys, to learn about the history of our religious movement and to get information about our own church and feel included. This class also provides attendees a small group of people they already know.

In addition, to be an asset to the church community, new members need to think through their own needs, responsibilities and commitments to the church. The vitality of our church congregation depends on contributions of time, and treasure.

The two part Pathway to Membership sessions will be offered in the Hearth Room at 7:00 p.m. on April 14 & 28.

You can also read more about church membership in the pamphlet Becoming a Member found at the Guest Table just inside the double doors to the church, or by using the link above.

Each Pathway to Membership class will be followed by a New Member Recognition Sunday at either the 9:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. service where we officially welcome new members to the church. These dates are:

February 8, 2009 and May 3, 2009.

If you plan to attend a Pathway to Membership class or become a member of the church or attend a New Member Recognition Sunday, please inform our Pastoral Care/Membership Coordinator, Sarah Rothwell.
