Here is a guide to the process, the responsibilities, and the privileges of membership. If you have questions or would like more information please contact the church's Pastoral Care/Membership Coordinator.
The Process
The joining process includes:
- Attending the UU Info sessions to learn more about our church and the Unitarian Universalist faith. Upcoming dates are October 3, 2007 and January 30, 2008, both from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the church.
- Formally joining by signing the Membership Book at New Member Recognition Sunday. Upcoming New Member Recognition Sundays are on October 14, 2007 and February 10, 2008 during Sunday services.
- Participation in the New Member Recognition Sunday is where our congregation officially welcomes and introduces you along with other new members. This service is followed by a celebration.
The Responsibilities
There are many ways to become involved in our church. We hope you will choose activities that are meaningful to you, including any of the following:
- Attending worship regularly.
- Enrolling yourself and/or your children in any of our faith development classes.
- Joining a small group or participating in an activity that you enjoy and that feeds your soul.
- Ministering to others in the congregation and serving others as they have served you.
- Joining in the work of a committee or volunteer opportunity of your choice.
- Supporting our church as you are able with your financial gifts.
The Privileges
Becoming a member is not absolutely required, but we encourage it. Some people remain a “friend” of the church for years and become just as involved as members. The privileges of membership include:
- Gaining voting privileges 90 days after signing the membership book.
- Becoming a valued member of our church family.
- Joining an international movement that is changing the world.
- Having the opportunity to explore your spiritual path in a supportive environment.
- Helping shape the direction of this community with other amazing leaders and role models.
