Our tour begins in the parking lot. We have recently put
up a new sign that shows our symbol of the flaming chalice. The informational
plaque is removable and shows the times for our two services during the school
year, or one service during the summer.
The hill leading up to the church is decorated with
perennial shrubs, grasses, and flowers, along with a few wild flowers. Of
course in the winter it's covered with a beautiful blanket of white snow.
Every spring, on top of the hill, the children of the
church join in the maypole dance. It symbolizes the returning of the sun and
renewal of spring.
Just thru the front doors is an open commons area. It is
an area where folks can meet and socialize. The artwork on the walls is from
church members and local artists and changes every month or so.
The lower part of the commons area is used for coffee
in-between services, youth coffee houses, parties, and church pot luck brunches
and dinners. What would a church be without pot luck meals!
Just off the commons area is the Hearth Room. It's not a
room with doors so much as an alcove with bookcases, display cases, a piano,
chairs, and a sofa. During services the audio is piped into the Hearth Room for
those who wish to listen from there.
Down the hall from the commons area is the Religious
Education offices, classrooms, and conference rooms.
Up a half flight of stairs from the commons area, just
above the coffee room and kitchen, is the church sanctuary. The sanctuary is
used for larger congregation meetings, the church service auction, recital
rentals of the hall, and of course, our services.
The music during services is a special part of each week.
We have an organ, harpsichord, and piano. Our directors of music also bring a
variety of musicians, playing the guitar, violin, cello, clarinet, harp, and a
variety of other instruments.
In between the religious education wing and the offices
wing is the memorial gardens. It is a nice place to sit and reflect on life,
love, and the things that mean the most to us. The memorial garden holds the
ashes of a number of our past members.
Now that you have seen the church on-line, we hope you'll
visit in person. The most beautiful aspect of our church is one that can't be
captured well in pictures. That is, of course, the wonderful people of the
congregation.
